💰🥟 Volunteering with Louis Notopradono: Analysing businesses and cheap eats
"The thing I gained the most from this experience is definitely my communication skills. Talking to fellow volunteers from different backgrounds as well as helping tourists and students allow me to be a better communicator" Louis Notopradono, Student Volunteer

As part of our LIVE in NSW Initiative, we support volunteers at the Study NSW International Student Welcome Desks at Sydney and Newcastle Airports. These students explained to us what they enjoyed most about studying in Sydney, the benefits they have experienced from volunteering and how they’ve been able to make a difference in welcoming fellow students.

Louis’ tip for international students

One thing I wish I knew before coming to NSW is definitely places to eat. I find it hard to find good food to eat at a cheap price. I was shocked that the price difference for food was so severe between Sydney and Jakarta.

Why did you choose to study in NSW?

I chose to study in NSW because I wanted to study somewhere that feels like it is in a new world, but still close to Indonesia for easy travel back. Australia fits all the requirements and with great reputation universities it was the perfect choice.

What has been your favourite part of the student volunteering experience?

Meeting new people was probably my favourite part of the job. Interacting with people from different nations and background was quite a fun experience and I learned a lot from them.

How have you gotten involved in student volunteer work?

I knew about this volunteering opportunity from a UNSW program. I saw the welcome desk and I said to myself why not give it a shot. I wanted to try volunteering because [I] have never done so.

Where do you see yourself going in the future?

I am currently studying finance and business analysis with the hopes of me working in those fields. I am not sure yet exactly what I want to be, but anything with analysis would be where I think my future lies.
